I don't want to make mass-produced products, but handmade design pieces that lovers will appreciate.
Who I am and why I build speakers
My name is Bertin Freese. I grew up in a joinery and have always had a strong connection to wood. In my teenage years, my passion for loudspeakers started, and I built one pair after the other. During this time I mainly tried out a lot and gained a great deal of experience.
After a few years of study and an apprenticeship as a computer scientist, I went back to my roots and learned to be a joiner. I still work as a joiner and am now a master craftsman.
At the beginning of 2019, I started the Bertin Audio project and have been steadily developing it.
My goal is to develop loudspeakers that offer more than just playing music.
I want to build speakers that belong in the centre of attention instead of disappearing in the corner of a room. Wood as a material is perfect for me and my vision.
Wood is familiar to people. It invites us to touch it and creates a pleasant feeling. At the same time, it looks noble and is tremendously versatile.
"Building loudspeakers fills me with happiness. It combines the planning, design, woodwork and technology in perfect form to create a total work of art."
I offer each speaker as a unique piece. Some look similar, others do not.
What is certain, however, is that I give each loudspeaker the attention it deserves.
And I pay the same attention to my customers and their concerns.
It is important to me to be aware of the resources I have available. Therefore, I constantly try to find sustainable materials that fulfil my purposes.
When I tell you something, I stand by my word.
And when I develop a product, I stand behind it 100%.
I always act as if I were working for myself.
